ANOUSHA PAYNE: MURMURATIONS

Curated by Anlam de Coster, the first site-specific exhibition by British artist Anousha Payne, held in the Byzantine cistern uncovered during the restoration of the hammam, is open for free every day except Monday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, until August 15.

CHILDREN'S WORKSHOP: FOLLOWING THE TRACES OF HISTORY IN ZEYREK
Zeyrek Çinili Hamam Museum, in partnership with Şehir Dedektifi, invites children to uncover Zeyrek's rich architectural and urban heritage. As part of its Learning Program, this workshop connects young participants with cultural history, inspiring a deeper understanding of the past and its relevance to the future.
ALEKOS FASSIANOS: SAILING TO BYZANTIUM
Curated by Anlam de Coster and organized in collaboration with the Alekos Fassianos Museum and Estate, the exhibition takes place in the Byzantine cistern uncovered during the restoration of Zeyrek Çinili Hamam. Due to high demand, the exhibition has been extended until February 22, 2025. It can be visited free of charge every day except Mondays from 10am to 6pm.
VIKIMARATHON
At the cold room of Zeyrek Çinili Hamam, we hosted a Wikimarathon with Wikimedia Turkey, where we had the pleasure of contributing to Wikipedia on hamam culture and architecture.
BOOK TALK SERIES
Focusing on the book Barbarossa’s Çinili Hamam: A Masterpiece by Sinan, published concurrently with the opening of the hammam, Zeyrek Çinili Hamam will be hosting talks with the authors in the book to explore the various aspects of the hammam.
MUSIC OF OTTOMAN ISTANBUL AT MİMAR SİNAN’S ÇİNİLİ HAMAM
Let’s revisit the traditional tunes of old Istanbul at Zeyrek Çinili Hamam. Crafted and sung by Çağlar Fidan and accompanied by Erhan Bayram on the rebab, this performance will give life to these old songs songs in the men’s hot room.
CHROMAS
Join us for the closing night of Healing Ruins at this performance specially designed for the exhibition. Multifaceted choir Chromas will present a repertoire inspired by the works in the exhibition in the hammam’s historical setting.

Hosted by Anlam de Coster and joined by artists Cecilia Granara and Lara Ögel, the third and final talk for Healing Ruins focuses on the artists’ practices, transformation and alchemical rituals as well as the symbolic realm of the hammam.

In the second exhibition talk hosted by Anlam de Coster, Ahmet Doğu İpek, Prof. Zeynep Kuban Tokgöz and Nevzat Sayın will trace the story of Ahmet Doğu İpek’s site-specific “Spolia” series as well the spolia in the history of architecture.

Talks for Healing Ruins start on November 9. Hosted by the exhibition’s curator Anlam de Coster, author and curator Elâ Atakan and radio program host Şenol Ayla will explore the psychoanalytic and archeological aspect of the exhibition.

Zeyrek Çinili Hamam opens with the exhibition Healing Ruins curated bu Anlam de Coster and featuring work of 22 national and international artists. Some of the works in the exhibition are specially created for the hamam.

Before its official inauguration in 2023, the Zeyrek Çinili Hamam opens its doors to the public for the 17th Istanbul Biennial organized by IKSV where Taloi Havi’s sound installation and Renato Leotta’s mulimedia installation can be seen.
